Im in the market for a new computer ... Im looking at 2 ways of doing it ... building one myself ... or buying a pre-fabricated model ... im also looking into a Notebook vs Desktop Options ...
So basically im here asking if anyone has build a system lately which has more then handled BF2142 with no sluggishness and had a HIGH FPS rate to boot.
Must have Raid 0 HDD , Prefer 10,000 rpm Drives Must have Video Card Capable of running 2 monitors simultaneous (or 2 cards if $$ is right) 2GB Ram (minimal) Liquid Cooled
I do not require a monitor, keyboard, mouse, pereferals and all that jazz .. looking for a Prefabbed Bare Bone system. Prefer Windows XP, NOT VISTA, must be available to ship to Canada or be a Canadian retailer I can have shipped ot me or I can pick it up ...
Im looking to have this system specced out and ready to be ordered or part pickup by this weekend... so any ideas .. any retailers ... or any specs .. plz post them here or e-mail me the speccs to
Having Windows XP precludes the pre-fab unless you waste the pre-loaded Vista Home. Notebooks come with Raid 0 now. The only problems are the video card options. The HP Pavilion desktop can be customized with the GeForce 8800 GTS but the power supply is only 350 watts which concerns me.

Your specs might put the system above $3000 for prefab. With your requirements, I'd definitely build it myself.
As far as FPS, I highly recommend the new 8800GTX. I was running 2 7800GTX in SLI mode, and I recently upgraded to the 8800GTX in single mode, (I handed down the 7800GTXs to my wife), and I have not noticed any slow down what-so-ever. And now I'm DX10 compatible! Great card. BTW, I have the BFG brand.
Drac baby try this site http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/ ..... its nice you can choose everything and anything on your pc and at a decent price i was playing around and pretty much made a quad core, dual 8800, 1100wat power, liquid cooled, perty case with lots of lights, little digital thingie up front, and your windows xp pro, for about 2915.00
That is an awesome site. I wonder about the liquid cooling aspect. What makes it better? All I see is the heat being transferred by a fan in another location instead of directly on the CPU. The radiator behind the fan isn’t any bigger then what would be on the CPU. Are there any engineers in the room? -Sporty
HEY grem awesome site .. problem they dont ship to Canada .. so ill have to find a way to ship elsewhere and pick it up ... ill talk to you tonight about it.. ttyl .

Dell still sells a windows xp gamer - XPS 710 model. I would not go SLi either. Any of 8800 series cards from eVga or BFG will handle Bf2142 just fine. PCBuzz.com and Overdrivepc.com has Window XP versions too.
